hi everyone!

i am a recent BS computer science graduate. i am still searching for my first real full time job.
currently doing a part time help desk work.
i don't think i will see any light at the end of my finding a full time job tunnel any soon.
people are telling me a fast way to get a job without any
experience is getting a certification.

my question is:
i want to get into the certifcation.
i want to be a DBA but i am not sure which one to choose and stick to it.

ms sql server 2000, MCDBA or oracle 9i, OCA?

could you give me an advice on this?
1)which one do you think is faster to obtain?
2)one is more difficult than other?
3)which one will last?
4)your opion or experience with either of certification.

i don't know where to start. so discouraged that i can't even find a decent job after the graduation.
thanks millions in advance.

Hi, qb828

1. The MCDBA
2. The OCPDBA by far because Oracle wants to make sure you know your stuff.
3. Hard to say but Oracle DBAs typically make more money than SQL Server DBAs. In my opinion, Oracle DBAs can pick up SQL Server much easier than the reverse.

I would recommend getting a copy of Oracle9i personal edition and loading it on your PC to practice with.
