I have only been programming for about a year and a half now, give or take. I program and work wth SQL Sever 7.0 and ASP (for the front end, using mainly VB Scrpt).

I'm interested in learning more and intaking and passing the exams necessary for the MCDBA certification. In addition to what tests I need to take, what would you suggest as the best way to get started on learning and studying for these exams? Are there books (aside from the test-prep books), websites, etc. that would help prepare me?

Thank you in advance for all your help! :) BeckahC

Hi BeckahC,

You can check out the MCDBA exams at this url:
The approach that I took to passing the 70-228 and 70-229 exams was to get the list of skills to be tested from the microsoft web site for each exam, and then use this as a guide to my studying, for which I used Books On Line (i.e. the SQL server help files), and also tried things out for real in SQL Server.

Once I had covered the topics, I then used the Transcender exam simulation software to test my exam readiness, and used the excellent explanations and again BOL to remedy my weak areas.

If it's any help, I also posted my study notes and some SQL practise drills that I devised on my web site (see sig).

Good luck in your quest for the MCDBA!
