Hi Guys,

This week I will be networking a 3300 with a Mitel 5000 that is in a remote office, we will be using SIP Trunks.

There will be an IPSec VPN between the two sites, and also there will be an MBG on the 3300 side with SIP channel proxy licenses.

What should I consider on the 3300 side? Will it be convinient to use the Tunnel or will it be better to use the Internet to send the SIP traffic?

Has anyone done this before?

Regards,

Daniel

You can connect a 3300 to 5000 without the MBG. Therefore if the VPN is up you might not need the MBG. There is no documents on the MOL for connecting the two via the MBG so you might struggle there if you have to use it.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

Loopy, I will be using the MBG for the Telco SIP trunks only, I will not use the MBG as Sip Proxy to network with the 5000 on the far end.

I am not expecting to have any issues with the SIP trunks between the two PBXs linking together using the IPsec tunnel, there will not be any NAT involved. But you know how many surprises you find with SIP, I will keep posting with the progress.
Cheers,

Daniel

If you don't already have it there is a knowledge base article on SIP trunking the 3300 to 5000.

Ok so what are you asking? Are you asking if the traffic between the 5000 and MCD is best via the VPN or via the internet? Would think you would only get it to work over the VPN.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.
