I just successfully upgraded a rel 4.2 system to 5.0.2.66 without software assurance

There were no errors or indications that SWA was absent

I was upgrading 6 different system simultaneously and had no reason to believe SWA was not active.

Bad News...

- Post upgrade health check immediately indicated a License Violation (21 days before escalation)
- Not even sure if I have options other than to purchase SWA and resync licensing.

Bottom line

Be careful, don't trust system to tell you if SWA is not active.

Thanks for the heads up kwb i guess this is another 'feature' of the new licensing model

Should check the AMC to make sure SWA is active first. That might be the only way to be sure.

Curious. How did you do the upgrade? Would have thought that the software installer tool would not have been able to retrieve the licenses and halted. You will have to retrieve the licenses to clear the violation error but without SWA that might not work.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

I used the SW installer tool, the one that comes with 11.0.2.66

No errors or warnings during upgrade
