MCD Enterprise Multi-device User License

Guys,

What's the MCD Enterprise Multi-device User License (PN 54005328)??

It is about 50% more expensive than the MCD Enterprise User License, but what it does?

Is this multi-device license something to do with Extensions on Personal Ring Groups?

Its apersonal ring group where all the members are covered by the one licence.

Multidevice User groups
- Allow multiple devices to share 1 User License
- Only one device can be used at any one time
- Does not allow multicall appearances (considered more than 1 device)

In scenarios where you need to create more than 1 device for a user but only 1 will be in use at any one time, this license will save the cost of multiple user licensing.

There are many restrictions - read the help files carefully.

I think this was intended for hospitality so that you can have multiple phones in the same guest room and not require a license for each.

Hospitality is one application.

I ran into it when the subject of licensing for External hotdesking came up

Instead of requiring a User license for both the Phone and EHDU, you can use 1 MDU license.

There is an addition to that idea in the next software version. The next version (6.0) will have an option to set the MDUG to external. This means that there will only be a desktop and an EHDU together. For this the system will consume 1 User license and 1 EHDU license. This is cheaper then i MDU license.
