We have a network all running MCD 4 SP4 and it's been migrated to a full SDS cluster, SDS is syncing the tel dir instead of ops. I have a new CXII installed which has been licensed on the new model ie enterprise licensing and I can't move any user and device licenses to it.

I am planning on upgrading this particular box from MCD 4 SP4 to MCD 5 so the user licenses will become available. The rest of the network is not due to be upgraded to MCD 5 until later this year. Can anyone see any issue with this box running on MCD 5 and the rest of the network on MCD 4. I'm thinking any possible SDS issues between the loads? From reading the release notes, it looks ok.

Thanks

There are certain forms that cannot/should not be shared as they are quite different. Class of Service for example. Before upgrading I would suggest you turn off most SDS sharing of forms except those that are critical and manually sync for the duration.

Yeah, I thought there would be some sds problems. I think I will look to get the customer to sort out the entire network upgrade to MCD 5. It has to be done and I will use this as the catalyst to get it done.

Thanks for your reply.

Although there should not be an issue running the different loads we did get constant SDS errors when we did it. As kwbMitel states its the differences in COS etc that have a problem i.e the system tries to sync COS but becuase of some new COS option not in the older software you get an SDS error each time it tries. As you state the differences in the licensing models between MCD 4 and 5 will also prevent setting up the ability to transfer licenses between controllers.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

Thanks all - we are upgrading to MCD next weekend so all will be sorted.
