Hey all,

Just read through the MCD 4.2 update course and have to say there are some excellent additions in there:

CF profile form - set/remove CF on a set by set basis in ESM.
DND - turn DND on & off from ESM.
Multi coloured LED status indicator.
Night service indication on feature key.

All good stuff

bobcheese,

Is that update course already available on MOL?

Regards,

Daniel

it seems to be, I just wish 4.2 would appear for download (I'm compulsively checking at least once a day....)

CF and DND programming pages were already introduced at version 4.1.
The new things for 4.2 are:
The Inward Dialing Modification feature allows you to alter dial strings contained in inbound SIP calls. After adding substitution rules, you can apply them to both "Called Party" and "Calling Party" SIP headers. You can implement this feature as part of the initial system setup when you Program SIP Trunks and Program SIP Phones.

External Hot desk Users (EHDUs) can now dial digits while engaged in a SIP trunk call. This enables them to access mid-call features, enter their PINs, and initiate user callbacks in a normal fashion. To take advantage of the functionality, a mechanism is required to detect the digits contained within the SIP media stream and transmit them to the MCD. This mechanism can be either your outbound proxy or the service provider's session border controller (SBC). To program this feature, add the outbound proxy or SBC as a Network Element, and then configure a SIP peer with Authentication and Key Press Event options.

The Busy Lamp Field (BLF) indicator light does not flash when a hot desk user is logged out. When a hot desk user is logged in, the lamp lights steady green. A new Class of Service option, Green BLF Lamp for Logged in Hotdesk User, controls this capability.

Night Service Indication allows supported sets to be programmed so that the Feature Access Key (FAK) LED goes off during the day and turns on at night. You can then press the key to display the current mode of operation (Day, Night 1 or Night 2).

When an EHDU has failed to log in due to a PIN validation failure three times in a five minute time span, any further login attempt will be rejected. The logout state of the EHDU may be viewed using the LOCATE FEATURE command.

Multi-Color LED line status involves employing color to indicate to a set user whether activity on a line key is of direct concern to the user, or of greater concern to another member of the associated broadcast group.

Location Based Accounting provides the capability to automatically determine a device's location based on its IP address. System administrators have the capability to attribute calls to specific locations, and bill these locations accordingly.

Account codes have been increased to support up to 40,000 Independent Account Codes.

4.2 upgrade course is available online

"The only problem with common sense is that it's not that common

running v4.2 (10.20.0.26) now (it is not linked to on MOL but is on the FTP site)

one thing, the volume up/down keys, when not on a call, no longer seem to adjust contrast on the 5330/5340 (you can still adjust the contrast via superkey/settings)

molftp.mitel.com but log in to MOL (Mitel online) eg the Mitel web site first, start to download a file, choosing FTP, and that will give you a username/password (in the URL) which only lasts for a certain time

avai;able on MOL now hurry and get yours while its hot

NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!

Please note - Mitel has added a caution re Cisco CDP problems with 2 IP sets. Monitor site for newer build when Mitel gets it fixed....

Mitel pulled 4.2 from MOL until its fixed. We used it tonight to upgrade a system, DPAR for a least 2 issues didn't fix the problems. If you have this load don't use it

Agee hold off on 4.2

The single biggest problem with communications is the illusion that it has taken place.

I'm curious, what would motivate anyone to putting a pre-release version of the software on a live system? The GR'd loads are bad enough. Unless directed by Mitel to correct a service affecting issue, I steer clear for at least 30 days after the General Release.

Just saying...

**********************************************
What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

This was a GA load. Mitel put it on MOL and pulled it the next day after finding that it was broke. Much of the s/w posted at the ftp site is experimental or site specific. Unless you are directed by Product Support to use something from the ftp site, stay off of it.

NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!

hhhhmmmm this has me a little worried. I am speaking to Canada soon to organise a pre release version of MCD 5.0 for a large installation that we are doing which requires some features released in MCD 5. However, now I am worried this too will be full of holes! Then again if its beta then we may have design support.

Beta releases are a whole different animal. Historically Mitel has been very active with support on Beta sites. Are you upgrading to a beta release or is it a new install?

NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!

depends how quick we can turn it around TBH. I would prefer it to be fresh install as upgrading (especialy if there is anyform of db conversion) just adds another thing that could cause a problem.

Even though 4.2 was GA we still refrain for a little while after release for just the reason that happened here i.e they find something unusual in the load that causes an issue.

The single biggest problem with communications is the illusion that it has taken place.
