Guys, next week I will upgrade one of our customer's 3300 from MCD4.1 to MiVB 7.1SP1. Can I go fro one version to the other in one go, I am just too lazy to go through the release notes. It's been a long time that I don't do upgrades from such an old version
cheers,
daniel

from 4.2SP2 Release Notes:

MCD 4.1 or higher only supports Common Data Distributed /SDS Extended mode

from the above it looks like customer database (4.1) should already be as Common Distributed Data format so I can go from 4.1 to MiVB directly.

However, any comments are welcome.

Cheers,

Daniel

You are good to go straight from 4.1 to any higher load.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

I've always been told to never jump more than two levels... I suggest jumping to MCD 6, then to 7.

the 4.1 may not necessarily be in the GDM mode but has to be in order to upgrade. There were a number of enhancements to the migration to GDM in release 4.2 which may make the final upgrade easier to accomplish.

I suppose you're entitled to your opinion, I'm just not to suppose very hard.
