Hi,

Has anyone got a good way of bulk setting the secondary controller for all users on an existing site?

When I used to do this on pre 4.1 with opsman I used TASMAC to set this in bulk.

The only way I can see at the moment is to export the user config form adjust then import back.

Any ideas/pit falls welcome.

You can use the the user import tool now
It has everything including secondary controller etc.
works a treat!

Thanks for the reply. Can you also just export the users form, ammend then import back in?

The Users form is a special case. I'm not sure that it can be used, I suspect it will try to create the phone rather than modify and as such will fail.

If you try, make you first attempt using only 1 local.

I would also delete all of the columns that are not changing leaving only enough columns to identify the ext being changed and the value to be changed.

I have done this myself and surprisingly it works!
I had to change over 1000 users to modify their cos/cor and resilient controller
I too was a bit sceptical but it does modify/overwrite but keeps the username and number and does not create a new entry.

You just try it yourself with say 10 users modified and confirm the changes if all is OK then import the rest

One thing to note is make sure you have the internet explorer timeout registry imported first if you have a lot to do otherwise you will not see it completed.

So, with confirmation on the method, I repeat my recommendation that you remove columns from the import form other than the minimum required to make the change.

go small scale until the method works to your satifaction.

Thanks all, looks like an export then import works a treat.

What a time saver!

Thanks
