MCC Auto acknowledge emails

Hi, quick question.. Can anyone clarify the point at which an auto acknowledgement email gets generated and sent to the customer from the prairiefyre mcc?

I was wondering if its at the point where the email is routed from exchange to mcc where its placed in a queue? I'm pretty sure it is but am curious if anyone can offer any further insight.
