I have 2 MAS and 1 MSS and we are interested in putting our corporate virus protection, which is mcafee on the MAS servers. I understand there is a specific setup as to how this needs to be configured. Does anyone have that? We are running 5.1.

refer to the MM installation and upgrade guide. There is an entire section headed: Installing and administering anti-virus software.

It outlines the requirements for best practice implementation of AV software, referring to scan procedures and port requirements.

I found that doc and it talks mainly about on-deman and on-access scanning along with when this should be done. I was given a list of exceptions for certain directories. I have yet to find about ports blocking. I know there is something that has to be done with this and it is not included in the docs. Does anyone know that answer? McAfee is the AV software in question.
