Hi,
XPe,office2000,2servers,1file server, all win2k, 50 wyse terminals.
Fine and dandy but...
Every few months or so we have a bad week or so with servers slowing and locking for few seconds.
Implemented this for AV excludes.
. pagefile.sys
. the Netshield folder/subfolders
. %systemroot%\system32\Citrix (to exclude the IMA service executable)
. %systemroot%\system32\spool (don't need to scan spooling print activity)

Any one out there had issues with the weekly anti virus updates? or similar, seems about the only thing that changes with our servers.

Ideas welcome [ponder]

Simon

If all else fails destroy all evidence you ever tried

We're using Trend ServerProtect for our Metaframe Servers.

We found the best results by not scanning the following directories:
C:\documents and settings (since we use roaming profiles, the profile is already scanned by our file server coming in and out...no need to scan it again on the TS side).

Any DFS shares...this caused a lot of lock ups. If you're using DFS to replicate any folders or files, try turing off any scanning on the directory. Along with this any FRS folders used for DFS replication.

I have definately had this problem before. We have a similar setup. We use Macfee & EPo for the AV. I have now decided not to install the virusscan on the Citrix servers since we only have wyse terminals connecting up. All other servers in the domain and the internet gateway are protected by the av software. This way an instance of the virusscan is not opened for each connecting user and we do not have to do weekly updates on the servers.
