VirusScan Enterprise 7.0 I'm guessing? Right click the V-Shield and click About VirusScan Enterprise to be sure.

Are you behind a firewall or require a proxy? If so, check that your firewall is allowing VS to connect on port 21. There are also some proxy settings you should check that I'll get to in just a min if you require a proxy.

I think you could do this on 7.0, however I'm not sure because I'm running 8.0. In the VS console go to the Tools menu and select Edit AutoUpdate Repository List... Edit NAIFtp and make sure the address is ftp.nai.com/CommonUpdater on Port 21 using anonymous login. Also edit NAIHttp and make sure the URL is update.nai.com/products/commonupdater on Port 80 without using authentication.

At the top of the Edit AutoUpdate Repository List window there should be a Proxy settings tab, which is where you should check your proxy settings if necessarey.

If I'm mistaken and your Tools menu doesn't have the Edit AutoUpdate option, let me know and I'll try to help you with the hard way of ensuring your sites are correct.

I edited the repository list as you suggested however I am still receiving the same error "unable to find a valid repository"

Any ideas?
Thanks

You may want to try this out:

Open a command prompt
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
Then reboot your PC
