mcafee firewall uninstall/network adapter problems

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I joined after reading this:

Anyways, I uninstalled mcafee firewall, lost my
connection but the status of my network adapter says that
it is connected.

Everytime I make a new connection in the network connections folder, it disappears.

But the shortcut on the desktop targets it as being
there. The only thing in the folder is my local area
connection; which is damaged but will not repair. I
figure it is some sort of tcp/ip problem but I have never
experienced this before and I am quite new to this. Please
help me if you can. I am running xp. Thanks!

This I know is a corruption in your Winsock service, and the Winsock Fix repair tool will handle it:
