This is a rehash of some other threads but it still needs to be addressed. I'm running a network with mixed Windows 95 and Windows 98 PC's, all pentium up to 500Mhz, and 64+meg RAM. I'm having nothing but problems on most of the PC's with the systems becoming so slow, that the users can't run their apps. By default the AV is setup to scan Default files (not All Files). E-mail scan is not running, nor is the internet filter. Only system scan and its default installation config. You can't get anymore simple than that. I've not received any feedback from McAfee tech support on the issue. Has anyone found a workaround and/or fix for this problem? Please let me know.
Thanks,

Check if you still have the BOOTSCAN.EXE reference in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. If it's still there, either delete it or put a REM at the start of the line. Dunno why but it seems that whenever this executes, it does not fully release in memory. Probably fixed by a hotfix.

Hope this help.

The VirusScan 6.02.3000 update will solve the BOOTSCAN.EXE problem...we had many reports of this problem and this patch will resolve it.

Ahm .. the version was 4.5.1 not 6.02.3000 :)
