MCA on 2616

I am trying to install a MCA adapter on a 2616. The red LED on the adapter does not light. The 2616 is an aries II dated 2/28/1998.
Should the led come when I plug the phone in?

I have tried with an without a power supply.

When I try to access program key then 63 nothing happens.
Any info would be appreciated, I can't find a manual.

You will have to have a power supply, and you need the strapping ribbon cable on the back of the phone. Do you have both of those?

Yes, that part is good.
I just found another MCA and it's LED flashes and the program 63 works.
It is looking like I may have bad phones.
Do you know what the jumpers at P1 are for?

I don't remember exactly, I DO know there was something about you needed to match versions of MCA's with Versions of Phones, that is worth looking into.

I have older version phones working with both versions of MCA's I have, but cannot get newer 2616' to work.
Does any one know the proper way to power these?
i am using a 26.7 v 700 ma power supply.

I tried a few combinations, but not that one.

I have only performed a few installations, my main focus is repair so when these not so common items appear it leaves me scrambling to find information.
