My PABX was upgraded from M1 R4.5 to CS1000E R5.0, with no IP User or Basic IP user license.
I installed signaling server with application LTPS/VTRK/NRS and transferred the MC32S data successfully. Now Signaling server acts as Leader and MC32S as Follower. The only problem is 32 VGW channels I added cannot be enabled. And PABX log shows "the MC32S server cannot find pbxLink"
Can anybody please tell me what's the problem?

Did you build the MC32s into the Node and transfer the node configuration to all elements?

This is a known issue at Nortel and you will not get these DSPs to register without adding at least one IP user or IP trunk ISM.

You won't actually need DSPs unless you are doing some form of VOIP or have more than one Cabinet (now MG) in a traditional "small system" environment.

You could leave it this way, but in the event you add another Media Gateway (cabinet), you will not be able to talk from MG to MG since this type of call requires a DSP.

If you ever add IP phones, that will solve your problem because you will have purchased IP user ISMs.

This is a HUGE gotcha for anyone upgrading a CS1000M small system to CS1000E SA with more than one cabinet. Make sure to have at least one IP user ISM in your new 5.0 keycode or you will be sunk.

Hope this helps
Rob

And the real question is....why the hell isn't the NNEC automatically including a single IP user ISM on every whatever to 5.0?

Great explanation. Have a star.
