Network group replaced data switch from 2950 to 2960 X
The ELAN is segmented and working fine.
The TLAN is working except for one card MC32S media card.
We have two MC32S cards and the second card has no issues with the new data switch, one MC32S link keeps dropping

Problem – Link LED turns green but keeps dropping you can see LEDs on card dropping

Steps taken
1/ replaced Ethernet patch cable – no difference
2/ Swapped data ports in cisco switch – no difference
3/ replaced MC32S card by vendor – no difference
4/ replaced interface adapter back of PBX – no difference
5/ changed nic setting to static 100 Mb and full duplex at both ends – worse, unable to establish link – changed back to auto auto at both ends.
6/ Vendor swapped in 8 port D-Link switch and TLAN came up and able to make calls on MC32S
7/ Vendor plugged TLAN back in original data switch 2950 and MC32S came up and was able to place calls.
8/ Both MC32S cards are rel 6

Anybody have any ideas on why one MC32S card refuses to establish link on new cisco 2960 X ?

Thanks in advance

Have you checked that the TLAN port on the data switch has been set to 100mb full rather than autoneg.

Worth a try

Hi Phones1,
Both MC32S cards are set to auto and the data ports set to auto.
We swapped data ports and same card keeps dropping.
Both data ports connect at 100Mb and full duplex in data switch.
Tried changing MC32S card to static 100Mb and full and data port set to 100Mb and full duplex and green light never comes on.

So the working MC32S card does not care which data port it is plugged into.
The bad MC32S will work on the old data switch and an 8 port D-Link switch but does not work on new Cisco 2960X switch

There is something about the new switch (new features?) that the MC32S card loop or shelf does not like.
Since we tried another MC32S and ethernet adapter to no avail then what remains is the loop and shelf not compatible with the 2960X.

have you tried then to format the MC CF via the card returning to its gold image & re-configing it?

Vendor brought a spare card pre configured and did not work on new data switch. Does this eliminate the MC CF?

any chance of using wireshark or similar to capture what happens on data switch when both switches are used?
