Hi, I have a file with 2 MC's. The 1st MC has a Mask that is a rectangle that opens to show a storeFront behind.
The 2nd MC is an alpha tween of a doorWay, no mask.
When the 2nd MC plays it comes in with the mask from the 1st MC. It should just Alpha in.
The 1st MC is in frame 3 of the main timeline and the 2nd MC is in frame 185 of the main timeline.
They both have stop actions so they should only play once.
Here is a link to a mockup:
Thanks,

What did I do wrong?
When I go to the link it just opens up the code in the browser, instead of asking if I want to save it?
I just ftp'd it to the server, am I missing something?

Do you know if the fla file should be transfered as an ASCII or a Binary file? Maybe my ftp is screwing it up.
I'll look into it and get back to you.
Thanks Adam

Let me add, I saved this with a file name I already had in my folder, so it shows at 459k, but I think if you rename it, it gives it a true file size.

Me? Not at all, but learning(thanks to the Old guy here) ;-) Glad it helped.

Yep, oldnewbie has helped me out a few times!
I'm curious as to what I did that was sending it back to frame 2. That makes sense because the 1st MC was playing twice. The only code that I have that referenced frame 2 was on the "Skip Intro" button but that shouldn't have run unless the button was clicked, right?
I guess I should just be glad that you solved my problem, I'm just wondering how I screwed up!
I like how you used: _root.door.gotoAndPlay(2);
to get the 2nd MC to play. That's better than putting it on the timeline to play at the right time like I had it. If I changed the timeline it would have been all messed up.
I need to look at more fla's to see how this stuff is supposed to be done.
Thanks again,

I generally try to keep the main timeline frames down, by using instance names and controlling the MC's that way. I find it easier to understand what I'm doing and keep things organized. I can't really say why it was jumping back to frame 2, but I'm pretty sure that was what was happening. I'm still fairly new to AS, and I've only had MX04, for about a month now, so I'm more about trial and error than knowledge...by a looong shot.
