I'm not sure if this question goes here.

I just downloaded the latest version of MBSA 2.0.1 and the latest wsusscn2.cab file. I have a windows 2003 SP server and am having trouble running MBSA against the cab file.

I am trying to use the following command

mbsacli /catalog wsusscn2.cab /nai /nvc > results.txt but cannot get it to use the cab file. I get the 2 error messages below depending if use the /nvc or /nai switch.

Computer has an older version of the client and security database demands a newer version

Windows Update Agent is not supported on this operating system" even though the computer is running Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 or later

I have tried the Microsoft suggestions but they do not work. Has anyone else experienced this problem and fixed it? Also how do I check what version of Windwos Update agent I am using?

Many thanks

Juniper look for the following files

Directory of C:\WINDOWS\System32\SoftwareDistribution\Setup\ServiceStartup\wups.dll\7.0.6000.381

07/30/2007 07:18 PM 33,624 wups.dll

Directory of C:\WINDOWS\System32\SoftwareDistribution\Setup\ServiceStartup\wups2.dll\7.0.6000.381

07/30/2007 07:19 PM 43,352 wups2.dll

Pay close attention to the last folder name.. This indicates the version you are running

cheers itsp for that,

The server is on 5.8.0.2694 29/10/06, I then downloaded windows update agent 2.0 and it was still at that version. But the command worked this time and now can see what patches are missing.
