I have to reformat (as low/mid level as possible) 2 Seagate IDE drives that are 2 gig in size. They are used for very costly digital dubbers [10K each] and I have to do it right.

I need to re-install the boot drives for the machines, back to the original manufacturers spec at DOS 6.22 version, as the embedded system works off that.

Currently the drives have WIN98 installed on 1 and WIN95 on the other.

My question is:

a) The /MBR or /CMBR switch in FDISK, someone has told me that if a master boot record that is valid already exists, using this switch during a format from the DOS 6.22 Boot Disk will actually not re-create the master boot record.

IS THIS TRUE?

How do I wipe out the current WIN98/95 MBR's?
