Here's the discussion in our office. Haven't been able to find the doc that *proves* I'm right.

One engineer says that the MBG should be set in the DMZ with two NICs. The NIC in the DMZ has a private IP with the public being NAT'ed. The 2nd NIC is on the voice network.

My position is this will cause one way audio.

The other engineer says "that's the way it done".

Anyone got any input?
I'd really love to see a Mitel doc showing one way or another.

That is NOT the way it is done" according to the Engineering Guidelines

In the DMZ the server must be configured in Server Only Mode.

Server Only mode only uses 1 IP (In the DMZ Subnet)

Whether or not that configuration will work or have One Way Audio is beside the point. It simply is not the way to do it. Period.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

Tell him to read his own companies docs then because we had an issue over in here in the UK were the customer made changes to the network and effectivley made this fault. We spoke to Mitel Support and they told us to reinstall as server only in DMZ (1 NIC) and everything worked ok.

Its simple really:

DMZ = 1 NIC or 2 NIC's bonded to 1 IP

One engineer says that the MBG should be set in the DMZ with two NICs. The NIC in the DMZ has a private IP with the public being NAT'ed. The 2nd NIC is on the voice network.

There seems to be a fault in this statement. What is the point of putting a nic on the DMZ (DMZ = all ports open to NIC) AND having one for the "voice" network?

With the 1 NIC it can do both DMZ and internal subnet. Please supply more info if you need more info.
