Maybe an easy memory question?

OK,
I have a compaq s6000nx.
- 2 memory slots
- up to 2 gig memory capacity
- original memory (in 1 slot)
256MB ddr-sdram 184 pin PC-2700

It didnt work. Why?? I got a "lsass.exe" error saying "endpoint format is invalid"

Yes, OS pre installed,WinXP sp2. Used this computer for about 2 years.

I get this error on boot. It starts up normally, goes through bios screen, then to winXP screen with the meter thing going left to right. Then the meter thing stops and starts about 3 times with the hard drive clacking away, then the error message, then it reboots and goes through the whole cycle again.
The strange thing about it is when I go to setup and look at the ram (1gb) installed, it says there is 32mb in it.
Also, when my old ram and the new ram are installed together the computer will not even boot up.

My opinion is that you should contact HP. While the link you give says that the motherboard supports 2GB of memory, it also states:

"Maximum memory is 2GB without ECC (the PC manufacturer's recommended maximum memory may differ)"

When I plugged your machine model number into HP, I got this page:

which states:

DIMM slots Two


Seems to me that HP may have limited how much memory can be addressed in the PC which is 512MB per slot.
