Maxtort External Hard Drive

Is there a way to give access to an external hard drive to folks so that they can access the drives contents via the internet? If not possible through configuration is there software that can be acquired to allow this?

I have a 3200 Personal Storage and a 2Wire Networking Gateway.

If you want to access an attached device remotely, you will need to access its PC via the Internet. This can be highly dangerous, as there are numerous baddies out there that want control of your PC.

Programs like PC Anywhere or GoToMyPC can accomplish this. For Dynamic IP addresses, which most of us have, there is also a DDNS system (

http://www.tzo.com)

that assigns your PC a DNS name that is updated with DNS servers regularly. This service can be used to create a VPN connection.

Just BE CAREFUL when allowing access to your machine, put it behind a VPN/router and leave all firewalls enabled, take the time to configure this properly.

If I had files I wanted available via the Internet I would get a web address with free hosting and upload them there.
