I have a computer that was built from scratch and had windows win98 first edition on it and was running it ok.
I formated the harddrive and redid the partitions and all that good stuff but now I try to install windowsXP and the install started but then it hung up and wouldnt complete. The msdos then said no fixed disks detetcted but now it doesnt say that. I can format the harddrive and whatever but now I still cant install an operating system. I know for a fact that the MB and the harddrive are compatible so its not that. Anyone have any ideas? maybe resetting the bios ? I wonder what life would be like in a perfect PC world where nothing went wrong... *dreams and drools*

Download Maxblast from Maxtor website, carry out low level format and smart drive test then try again.
