Maxtor DiamondMax 21 SATAII/300 HDD not working on ASUS SK8N

Hi,

I have ASUS SK8N motherboard WITH AMI BIOS Revision 1007.

I bought the Maxtor DiamondMax 21 INTERNAL SATAII/300 HDD 300GB with 16MB cache.

The S/N # IS 9QF2K5X8
The P/N or MODEL # IS 9DP14G-326

I connected the HDD to "SATA_RAID1" pin on the motherboard. The HDD manual says my HDD is "S type". The jumper settings are on "Force 150"

My BIOS does not show me the settings for "SATA" drives. All it shows me is the OnBoard Promise Controller "Enabled/Disabled" and then under that either "RAID/IDE"

I "enabled" the onboard promise controller and set it to "IDE".

With all of the above done, my computer will not detect the HDD. I even booted the computer in DOS 6.22 from CD-ROM and tried FDISK, but FDISK does not find any HDD.

Help me on this issue. Thanks in advance.

Try the RAID setting.
