My Maxtor Drive has crashed and all the Data Recovery companies here cannot help as apparently this is a factoryu fault. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to get around this problem.

Welll.. The only thing you can do, IF it really IS a factory fault and IF it's under warranty, is send it back to the factory. If under warranty, Maxtor might be willing to either 1) fix the problem, 2) recover the data for you or 3) replace the drive.

If it's OUT of warranty, send it to the factory and request they recover the data. HOWEVER, recovery will probably be EXPENSIVE and not worth the trouble, UNLESS it's mission critical data.

What data recovery companies did you try? I know of quite a few very good ones that can handle problems way more complex than that...they've recovered data from fires, floods, crushing...etc. What did the companies specifically say was wrong? And don't send it in to Maxtor for an RMA, they have NO recovery policy and your data will be lost forever. Also, don't touch the drive anymore. Leave it in an anti static bag if you have one, or if it is still in a machine, do NOT turn it on anymore or use it.

Few months ago my mhard drive crashed, I couldn't start windows nor reinstall it, so I took my HDD to a friend's computer and connected it as a slave drive, then I started the computer using my friend's HDD and accessed my Hard drive through the "My Computer", I was able to recover some important data but not all of it...
I also had to disable DMA when copying, as it caused errors
Hope it helps !!

All hard drive companies do not recover data under warranty, they willonly replace your drive, if the drive still can be readable try pluggin it into another computer and use a data recovery program such as this one:
wotherwise a data recovery company can recover some data for you at really expensive costs. I had to do this for a company I was helping and they charged $9,000

I would NOT recommend using a software option for data recovery! Generally these just cause more damage and overwrite the files you are trying to recover. Hardware data recovery generally costs around $800-$1500.
