The computer is a 6 year old Gateway pentium 4. My Maxtor 4 year old 160 Gig HD died. I just installed a 320 Gig WD HD and the Maxblaxt software won't recognize it. Calls is a non maxtor disc drive. No help from gateway or maxtor. Any help will be appreciated.
This is the e-mail forum, but I think you solved your own problem. Maxblast software is from Maxtor and doesn't work with Western Digital Hard Drives. Get their Data Lifeguard Diagnostic program and that should recognize your drive.
If not, you may have a BIOS limitation and a BIOS flash may be required. Your system may not even recognize such a large drive after a BIOS flash. You should have gone with a similar size drive, but give it a shot.
