I have a Moxtor 6L060J3 hard drive and I'm running Windows XP home.

It's supposed to be a 60GB but when I look at the drive properties in XP it shows as:

Capacity 60,036,284,415 55.9GB

Am I missing something. Are the XP files using this much space....4.1GB???

I have looked in my bios and it is set to automatically detect the hard drive, which it does.

Any advice?

Michelle

Never mind. I finally found the answer my self.

I guess Maxtor see's 1GB as 1,000,000,000 and Windows counts a GB in binary which is 1,073,741,824. Which comes out to around 55.87 which is right.

Thanks,
MIchelle
