Hi,
I have a table with just 400.000 records and when I try to add an autonumber column I receive the following message:
"file lock count exceeded. Increase MaxLocksPerFile regestry entry."
I tried to increase the value of the relative regedit key but it didn't work.

Can anyone help me, please?

Thanks,
Luigi

Is your database sitting on a Netware server? If so, there are settings that need to be changed to increase the number of file and record locks for Access to work correctly. Contact your systems administrator (or consult your documentation) and ask them about "Set Maximum Record Locks Per Connection". More info on the MS KnowledgeBase article at - ignore the bits about patching your server, as the article is old but still relevant in a Netware environment.

Thanks for your reply.
I'm not using a Netware server but I have a normal PC with MS office installed on it.
Suggestions?

Thank you very much again,
Luigi
