How can one create a movieclip that's thousands of pixels wide?

I have a scrollpane that needs very wide contents (in a MC). But the maximum space Flash MX gives me to edit the MC is 720x720. Any ideas? I thought it might be related to the Document size, but it does not appear to be.

I think the maximum size is around 2800 pixels wide or high!

Are you dynamically creating this content movie clip, or building it on stage?

Create your new mc. With the rectangle tool (disable the fill) and draw a frame. Then set the width or height of the mc to 2800 in the width or height boxes in the mc's properties. Insert your content. To add content outside the Flash document's visible area, simply set the mc's x or y position to negative values, and when done, simply reset them to 0.0 or to the original values they did have.
When completely done, you could then delete the frame you had created to start with.

I didn't totally follow your instructions, but it helped.

I created a MC, and in it I created 1/2 my content (about 1400 pix wide). I grouped that content and moved it -1300 pix to the left (so that I could still select the content). I then created the other 1/2 of my content, grouped that, and then aligned the 2 groups, and I was done.

If you group groups, you can align content that's atleast 2800 pix wide (I did not test that number).

Thanks again!
