Maximum Number of Switches/Hopes in a Fabric?

What is the maximum number of switches and hops which are supported per fabric?

Is there any document , which can be used as a reference in this regard?

The san switches are Brocade switches and they contain 8 ports, 16 ports as well as 32 ports...
