Hi, I have developed an ASP site to act as a survey, which is backed up by an Access DB, the site will launch Monday, 9am, with approx 150 people that will be accessing the site! I know that Access cant support that number and demand, however, by boss wanted it this way.

Can you tell me what my max number might be?

Do you need to know the spec of the server? we have a fixed IP, and 1mb BT Broadband.

Yours

Richard

Just curious, do you expect the 150 people to hit the web site at exactly the same time and execute functions or is your concurrent expected load more like 20% of total - ~30 people? I have previously designed ASP Apps with over 100 users, and never had issues. My concurrent user base was expected to be around 20-25 though. Hopefully, you are efficient in openning and closing connections to that DB. You can also check the State of connection to confirm it is open and available. htwh,

We are expecting around 75-80% immidiate, just for the intrigue factor, all dumping large amounts of data on us!

We cant have it crash really...That helped though

Hopefully you are logging into a table the connections and login activities to get some usage/volumetric data. I do this presently on a ASP app with a SQL Server back-end. It is very helpful to see what the usage pattern is.

I would recommend upgrading to SQL Server if at all possible since it would support the scalability you may require if the use base increases.

Good Luck.
