What is the maximum limit for no of messages in a queue at a given time without any load-balancing

There is a setting in the Q definition which by default is around 5000. It seems that the limitation is around 10000, but don't quote me on that. IBM Certified Confused - MQSeries
IBM Certified Flabbergasted - AIX 5 pSeries System Administration

Depends on the platform. On Unix/Windows systems it's 640000, although this is further restricted by the overall queue limit of 2GB. This limit is increased with MQ 5.3.

Load balancing doesn't really come into it though - is this what you meant? Or are you asking about message throughput which is platform, application and system specific.

Cheers,
Paul
