Maximum no. emails in Outlook folders?

Anyone know the recommended maximum number of emails you should keep in your inbox, sent items etc. Is it around a couple of hundred, couple of thousand??

I believe the maximum file size possible is 2Gb. However, your email administrator may limit your account to, say, 10Mb or 25Mb. After that limit is reached, the account disables itself until you reduce its size.

I have an Outlook file at home with 4,000 messages which is 120Mb. It's a good idea to purge or Autoarchive regularly, as this slows system performance. Newposter

there is no rile of thumb, only what you fancy keeping and trawling through - I have users happy with 8,000 in inbox (no matter what i say to them) and some who hate having more than 5...
