I need to have the ability allow file sizes to exceed the 2GB limit with my current version of Redhat 6.2. (Linux version 2.2.14-5.0.14smp).

Does anyone know if Redhat 7.1 supports file sizes over 2GB?

If so, I will need to upgrade very soon. =)

Thnx! ---
Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

Yes, most later versions of Linux support up to 4 GB filesizes on x86 architecture. (Pentium, etc...) It depends on the Linux kernel, but I can't remember exactly which kernel made that leap to higher max filesize.

If you really need large filesize, you can run Linux on an Alpha, or some other 64-bit system, which has a filesize limitation in Terabytes, instead of gigabytes. (I think it is 8 terabytes)
