I've been told that if you have more that 200 characters in your Keywords list, some search engines will skip over your page. Is this a fact, or bull flop?
I don't think there are any hard-and-fast rules that apply to all search engines. There are a number of SEs that won't even look at your META KEYWORDS list at all; see this article for a rundown of who does what:
I own a website submission/marketing company. Your description and keyword tags can possess upto 1,000 characters each. In any case, engines will not skip your page if you have too many characters. They will only read the first 1000 and skip the rest. You will still get indexed fine.
I was under the impression that different search engines have different rules. Google, for example, will only check the first 80 characters whilst others will check 200. I'm not saying this is true but I have read this somewhere recently. The Demon
