Maximizing Screen While Surfing Safari

Hi All,

An end user has a powerbookG5 desktop (osx10.4.6) with a 23 inch flat panel. When surfing Safari the explorer screen comes up in middle of screen and does not expand full width even after clicking the + to maximize. Is there a way to expand this full screen?

AS far as I know Safari will only expand to a size necessary to view all the pixels in the page. Since a 23 in flat panel has a heck of a lot of pixels across, it's unlikely to fill the screen. This can be seen by decreasing the resolution, making things look bigger and taking up more space. My 20 inch Apple flat panel is set to 1680 X1050 and I cannot fill the screen.

If you mean that the user is hitting Command+ to increase text size and the page is partially disappearing, hit the green button on the window. The window should expand to fitt all content.

If it's that big a deal you can always go to system prefs and show the monitor prefs on the menu board and then just decrese resolution when you need things bigger.

Thanks JM for all the suggestions. I didn't think it was possible. The end user (starts in July) is a Mac person so maybe he can set the screen the way he wants.

What web sites are designed to be seen full screen on such a wide screen? Tek-Tips becomes unreadable when the reader has to pan across such long lines of text.

To make use of the wide screen, it may be best to view two Safari windows side by side. There is little use in expanding just one window.

I see your point. With a 23" screen you could probably fit a few windows side by side.
