Maxed telnet sessions?

Hey all,

I have a 4000M that I have a hard time telnetting in to. Most of the time I get the following error message:

"Sorry, the maximum number of telnet sessions are active. Try again later."

I'm on a small network of about 60 users, and I don't think any of them have the wherewithal to telnet in to a switch. I've also changed the password so only I have access to the switch. I've contacted HP tech support a couple of times, but all I get from them is that I need to reboot the switch. I could reboot the switch, but then I'd have to run for my life. Has anyone else seen anything like this? Any ideas?

I don't know about hp switches but on cisco you can do a show users and it will tell you what addresses are using a vty session . It will allow you to disconnect users too . It sounds like you don't have an exec timeout configured on the switch thus any connection never times out and eventually will not let you in once the max sessions is reached , I would go the hp site and see how to configure this if it not already set .

Yes there is a limit of concurent telnet sessions, I think it is around 2 or 4.

Ok, I finally received a response from HP's tech support that clarified my problem and gave me an answer that worked. I saw the setting for the timeout parameter, but it wasn't in with the settings for the console. I changed that and now I've been able to telnet in every time. Vipergg you pointed me in that direction.
