the db 9 will connect to a com port, i've connected in that manner using procom config'ed as a tty. older versions used a rj 21 with xmit and rec on on pins 2 and 3, short 4 and 5 to remote 20 and cross 7 and 8.. a nul modem does all the crosses if you have the older version
