I looked at the index for a few of the files in uestion and reindexed them. We will see....

I noticed that some of the dbf files have a great many records in them. one or two files that would correspond to the history update problem I am having are quite large.

custhist.dbf has over 28000 records and there are others just as large or larger

?????????????

I can't convert the program to DBase plus until I am sure that the problems are fixed or somewhat fixed.

jlakeg,

28,000 isn't a big deal, millions can get to be a problem. Converting to dbase + won't make a difference in this regard.

How often to you generate new indexes. You may need to pack and recreate indexes more often if you aren't doing it in a regular manner. Also when you recreate indexes you should be erasing the old index and making a new one from scratch, corruption can stay resident in the header if you don't completely recreate them everytime.
