Hi, is there a limit to the total number of files in one directory that can be created in Livelink at each folder level?

Asking because there are some cases such as in Linux/unix servers, there is a max number of files/folders= 32000 files

Generally the limit used to be about 250, but now that we have paging that is significantly less of an issue, the main issue is one of Management, i.e. how useful is a folder of 32,000 files to the business ? This can be fixed either with subfolders etc or with improved metadata to allow things like the Facets in CS10 to aid with navigation.

hi ggriffit,

in my current livelink dashboard, i believe it has more than 250 folders. i think i can create > 250 folders in each level, just that for performance vise, it will be very slow if without pagination, right?

Is there a hard limit as in if > x folders, the livelink application will not allow me to create any more new folders in that level?

you also want to considerlapi clients/webservices clients/enterprise connect /explorer because they may not have implemented paging so when it hits a huge folder those applications will hang and take up livelink threads

Well, if I called the wrong number, why did you answer the phone?
