I have an OPX line from our main Option 11 switch running to a remote building. Is there a maximum number of analog phones that I can connect to the same line at the remote location?

ANYMORE THAN 3 AND THEY MAY NOT RING OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

If you don't have a ringer on some of them you can add more than 3

Thank you! The reason I asked is that, at my remote location, I patched in a 3rd analog phone to one line. All three phones worked fine... for a couple hours. Then, when anyone attempted to call that line, they received a constant busy signal. When I visited the location, the phones on that line had no dial tone and no battery. I disconnected the 3rd line and all was well on the original 2 phones. I suspected a miswiring and changed the active pair (4 pair CAT 5 cable) on both ends.

Well... was well, but once again, after a couple of hours, the line went dead again until I disconnected that additional connection at the 110 block.

I suspect that I may have a bad wire... or a bad phone. It was odd that I didn't get any battery tone and none of the buttons on the phones would make a tone when pushed.

Sounds like you have a bad phone that may be staying off hook and not hanging up right and that would caues the line to go into lockout. I have had as many as 20 phones on one line but I only had one loud ringer.

Thanks, Ace. I'll try replacing the phones themselves!
