I'm fairly new to this Novell stuff and I was wondering what the "max connections" in Novell 4.11 is referring to. Is it the number of concurrent connections that the server can handle (ie: say 1000 people can login at the same time) or is the number of concurrent logins a user can have (ie: 1000 concurrent logins for user Sam_I_Am).

Thanks,

Depends where you are looking. I believe (if I remember correctly), at the server console, max connections is the total number of licensed connections. If you have 100 user license, that means 100 simultaneous connections. The 101 connection would be refused. But you could have 150 users, as long as only 100 tried to login at a time.

In NWAdmin, there is a user setting for max connections. This can be used to limit how many connections a user can use at a time. So if you set it at 1, then that user can only login from one place at a time.
