Does anyone know what the maximum amount of memory is that can be allocated to one process or application for Solaris 8? I have looked through the threads and haven't been able to find anything on it.

thanks,
Yowza

This should be controlled by the ulimit on virtual memory. If it is set to "unlimited", a single process could potentially take over your whole box.

the maximum amount of memory is that can be allocated to one process
IS
the maximum amount of physical memory installed on the sys -----------
when they don't ask you anymore, where they are come from, and they don't tell you anymore, where they go ... you'r getting older !

the max amount of memory that can be allocated to 1 process is uaually the maxi amount of physical memory installed on the system during configuration--be careful not to reset the configuration for memory to unlimited on your virtual memory. If it is set to unlimited a simple bug that causes a never ending subroutine could eat most of your memory

Thanks dobbyn, jamisar, and Afrothundah8 for your responses. I appreciate it!!
