I am creating a Survey with 35 short questions and answers using a web interface and was wondering if Access 2000 can handle around 1000 users entering into the database within one week time?

I would think a couple hundred users a day would populate the database. Would this be considered too much concurrent usage for Access 2000?

I know when Access 2000 gets over 5,000 records (and definately at 12,000), there's a considerable slowdown if you try to look at all of the records.

It depends on the pattern of usage and how you code the page. If all the questions are on a single page and you create the new record in a single operation then you should have no problems

If these 1,000 users come along in good order and spread themselves over the week then you're only talking about six new records an hour.

Even if they only arrive in office hours then it's more like twenty five an hour - one database operation every two minutes on average. Even if the peak load is ten times higher you'll still have 14 seconds to create a new record.

Are you asking about the number of concurrent users of the system or about the number of records in the system?

There's not much chance that Access can handle hundreds of concurrent users unless you've been very careful about how you manipulate data in the system.

If you are just wondering about record capacity ... several thousand records is a trivial load for Access.

I agree with Golom, the question is what is the likely maximum number of users appending data at the same time.
