Max 5 slow in XP

What's the deal?

It takes FOREVER to load in XP. I know it works cuz a buddy of mine has the same version and it works fine in XP.

What would cause this on my comp?

AMD Athlon 900
GeForce 2 MX-400 32
WinXP Pro SP1

Check to see if you are running Norton AntiVirus and turn off the Autoprotect before launching Max. There is a known issue with the license management and a conflict with NAV (at least for older versions of cdilla).
