Matworx32: timeout during backup...

Greetings!

Lately, I've been unable to get a complete (Basic+Options) backup done on my 2000 IPS switches.

I have to dial in to the PBX using a modem, so the speed is glacial, but I'd swear this same setup used to get the job done in about 90 minutes.

These days it goes for about sixty minutes, then I get the timeout error.

To make things more interesting:

I can back up just the Basic info, but I can't backup just the Option portion. I get another, different error code right away. (MAT-PBX Sequence Error)

Is there any way to increase the timeout period at the switch?

Or is there, more likely, some other completely mysterious thing going on?

Thanks!

Where possible force the call on to PSTN lines. Another trick I have seen help is after starting the backup, open the moc window and every so often hit the / key. You won't see anything happen till the backup completes but I know some who swear it helps!

It's possible that you are getting the basic data backed up, but there is a problem with the options back up and it is attempting to get it before it times out and fails. I suggest that you look into the AP-00 card for any abnormal operation, or try resetting it before attempting a new back up. I also suggest that you do separate back ups until the problem is resolved. The options back up is related to the AP cards, usually the AP-00-B.

This may well not be the case but I will put a few points out there for consideration. I have heard it stated that carriers are starting to restrict data calls over ISDN as a way to increase revenue by way of charging to allow these calls for a fee. This may well not be the case but needs to be investigated! The other possibility is that the carrier has switched to a voip solution somewhere between the two sites and that is what is screwing up your data comms!

Thank you, OzzieGeorge and Belvedere,

I've attempted the call over dial-up now using both 4-digit dialing over my CCIS link (I'm a half-mile from the master switch) and via POTS using ten-digit dialing. Timeout error still occurs. (Same result on the satellite switches, too, even the one on site.)

Will next try re-setting the AP-00 card at my local switch to see if that will help. Will also try the mystery "/"-key trick! Whatever it takes!

More to report later...
- Patrick
