Presumed: every item# is assigned a product category and a material cost type whose combination then determines to which GL acct related info will post.

Question: what table(s) would I query to view the account#'s associated with the various matlcosttyp/prodcat combinations.

Thank-you

IMTYPLOC_SQL is the table you are talking about. Let us know if you have any questions.

Thank-you. Looking at this was I under a misapprehension when I thought that the product category played a role in this?

Here is the experience that I had:

Bookkeeper says she is creating a new GL account and that she has set it up so that all items with a matl cost type = A and a product category = B will post to this account. She also printed something to screen which showed that on a specific date the account# posting for matlcsttyp A prodcat B was changed.

Is it strictly material cost type/location that determines the GL account to which something posts. The screen print that I saw may have misled me as I couldn't imagine why it wouldn't just have said that it applied to all of matlcsttyp A.

The material cost type determines the inventory side of the transaction (e.g. receipts, adjustments, cycle count..etc.). The product cat controls the sales and Cost of goods sold side of the entry (OE invoice posting). OE Posting will include gl transaction from both material Cost type and Product Cat, where a straight inventory transaction use only the Material cost type relationship. Great reference is the order to cash document, it shows T accounts examples.

Thank-you, do you per chance have the document# as I could not locate it on the web site. Now I have the OE side which is table OEPRDACT_SQL.
