Materials

Ok, try to make long story short....

I haven't used 3DS in quite awhile (a few years to give an idea), while i can recall most of the functions, I'm struggling with Materials and mapping?

Anyone know of a good tutorial that will help me out? Or willing to correspond with me, I'm trying to bang out a last minute request and I'm stumped on materials.

I even just try simple exercices.

1. create box solid
2. apply UVW MAP - box - fit
3. go into MATED and select standard Wood map
4. while I have the Wood map selected and the newly created box selected, it won't let me apply to object?

I realize I haven't used 3DS in awhile, but has it changed that much? I'm using ver. 6 btw.

even the MATED won't show the 3D object with the map on it? (sphere, box, etc.)
